The Mekong Delta in southern Vietnam is a vast maze of rivers, swamps and islands, home to floating markets, Khmer pagodas and villages surrounded by rice paddies. Boats are the main means of transportation.

Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, is known for its centuries-old architecture and a rich culture with Southeast Asian, Chinese and French influences.  Hạ Long Bay, is known for its emerald waters and thousands of towering limestone islands topped by rainforests. 

Lao Cai is known for its mountains, rivers, waterfalls and ethnic hill tribes.

Sa Pa is a town in the Hoàng Liên Son Mountains of northwestern Vietnam. A popular trekking base, it overlooks the terraced rice fields of the Muong Hoa Valley.

Itineraries

Day 1

Arrival - Saigon

Welcome at the airport on arrival in Saigon and transfer to the hotel for check-in. Dinner at your own and Overnight in Saigon.

Day 2

Saigon – Cu Chi – Saigon (B,L)

Breakfast at a hotel. Morning excursion to visit the famous Cu Chi Underground Tunnels which have become well-known worldwide as the symbol of Vietnamese bravery during wartime. Lunch at local restaurant. Return to the city for half-day city tour in the afternoon visiting the War Remnants Hall and bustling Chinatown with Thien Hau Temple. Photo stops at Notre Dame Cathedral, General Post Office and City Hall. Overnight in Saigon.

Day 3

Saigon – Mekong Delta – Saigon (B,L)

Breakfast at a hotel. Pick up at hotel. Drive to My Tho (2-hour drive from Ho Chi Minh City) and visit Vinh Trang Pagoda. My Tho is a prosperous town of 170,000 inhabitants in the Mekong Delta. It is famous for its extensive orchards and immense rice fields. Enjoy a boat ride on the Mekong River and visit an orchard on an island, with lunch en route followed by a visit to a snake farm. Dinner at your own and Overnight in Saigon.

Day 4

Saigon – Hue (B)

Breakfast at a hotel. Transfer to the airport for domestic flight to Hue in the morning. Afternoon city tour in Hue beginning with boat ride on Huong River to visit Thien Mu Pagoda. and the Royal Tomb of Tu Duc King. And visit The Imperial Citadel - World Cultural Heritage. Lunch & Dinner at your own. Overnight in Hue.

Day 5

Hue - Da Nang - Hoi An (B)

Breakfast at a hotel. Transfer to Da Nang in the morning via Lang Co Beach and Hai Van Pass. Sightseeing tour around Da Nang including visit to the Museum of Cham Sculpture. Proceed to Hoi An and hotel check-in on arrival. Lunch & Dinner at your own. Free time afterwards. Overnight in Hoi An.

Day 6

Hoi An (B)

Breakfast at a hotel. Morning walking visits to old houses, pagodas, local market and Chinese community’s assembly halls in Hoi An ancient town with old Tan Ky House, Covered Bridge, Phuc Kien Assembly Hall. Enjoy bicycle ride in the afternoon to the countryside or to Cua Dai Beach. Lunch & Dinner at your own. Overnight in Hoi An.

Day 7

Hoi An – Da Nang - Ha Noi (B)

Breakfast at hotel. More free time in Hoi An in the morning. Transfer to the airport in Da Nang for domestic flight to Ha Noi in the afternoon. Meet upon arrival in Hanoi and transfer to the hotel for check-in. Lunch & Dinner at your own. Overnight in Ha Noi.

Day 8

Ha Noi - Ha Long. (B,L)

Breakfast at a hotel. Drive to Ha Long in the morning and hotel check-in on arrival. 4-hour boat cruise on the magnificent Ha Long Bay - a World Natural Heritage Site - to enjoy swimming and exploring limestone grottoes. Lunch on board & Dinner at your own. Overnight in HaLong.

Day 9

Ha Long – Ha Noi (B)

Breakfast at a hotel. Transfer back to Ha Noi in the morning with short stop at a ceramic workshop in Dong Trieu.. Lunch & Dinner at your own. Overnight in Hanoi.

Day 10

Ha Noi – Lao Cai (B)

Breakfast at a hotel. Morning visit to the historic Ba Dinh Square with Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum (if open), Ho Chi Minh Stilts House and One-Pillar Pagoda. Continue to visit Temple of Literature and History Museum.Visit Hoan Kiem Lake with Ngoc Son Temple. One-hour cyclo ride in the Old Quarter of Ha Noi and then enjoy some more walking in the area. Enjoy the evening show of the spectacular Water Puppetry. Lunch & Dinner at your own. Pick up and transfer to Ha Noi Train Station for night train to Lao Cai. Overnight on train.

Day 11

Arriving Lao Cai – Sa Pa (B)

Meet on arrival in Lao Cai and transfer to Sa Pa (40km away) to the hotel for check-in and Breakfast at a local restaurant. Later transfer to the outside of Sa Pa (around 13km) and enjoy some more walk (around 2km) off the main road to visit Ta Phin village of Zao and H’mong ethnic minority peoples. Lunch at your own. Afternoon drive to the vicinity of Sa Pa to Muong Hoa valley where is home to many ethnic minority peoples such as H’mong, Zao, Zay, Tay and Xapho. The landscape is beautiful to enjoy with terraced fields and local homes of ethnic minority peoples scattered on the mountain side. Walk visiting Lao Chai & Ta Van villages of Zay, red Dzao and H’mong people. Return to Sa Pa in the late afternoon. Dinner at your own. Overnight in Sa Pa.

Day 12

Sa Pa – Lao Cai (B,L)

Breakfast at a hotel. Drive to Bac Ha district (106km away from Sapa) in the early morning to visit Bac Ha Sunday Market - the biggest and most colourful market of ethnic minority peoples in the mountainous north-west of Vietnam. After having lunch at local restaurant. The guide will take you to Pho village, then transfer to Lao Cai town for sightseeing tour and short visit to the Ha Khau Border Gate of Vietnam - China on the bank of the Red River which serves here as a natural border line. Afterwards transfer to the train station for night train to Ha Noi. Dinner at your own. Overnight on train.

Day 13

Arriving Ha Noi (B)

Pick-up at the train station in Ha Noi on arrival and transfer to the hotel for Breakfast. Lunch & Dinner at your own. Whole day at leisure for relaxing or shopping. Overnight in Ha Noi.

Day 14

Hanoi – Departure (B)

Breakfast at a hotel. Free time for relaxing until transfer to the airport for departure flight. End of Services.
